BIRTHDAY PORTRAIT SESSION | OUTDOOR PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY | VANCOUVER BOUDOIR & WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

While not a boudoir session, this beautiful woman messaged me because she wanted to commemorate a milestone birthday, her 30th, with some amazing portraits of herself. She had quite a few ideas which we talked about via email and over the phone, established a creative direction, nailed down a date and went on a mini adventure!

It was close to the end of summer, and it was HOT. Like, we were all sweating (the hair and makeup artist came along with us for the day). We found a really cool park after having the hair and makeup done, and picking a wardrobe, that had lots of variety and spots to shoot. It was soooo sunny. Like, mid-day sun. These portraits are really all about the sunny summer life. We bonded this day, all telling stories in the car on the drive there, getting to know each other, stopping for snacks - honestly it felt almost like a mini girls-road-trip. It was SO FUN.

Lili, from Floral Design By Lili made this amazing flower crown using proteas. THANK YOU LILI, it looked amazing! It was the perfect finishing touch to this session, and Sahra (the lovely client) absolutely adored it. 

IF ONLY we all did something amazing like this for our 30th birthday. I only WISH I had invested in some portraits like this for myself when I turned 30. I can imagine doing something like this at 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, etc. or if not every 5 years, at least every 10, would be wonderful. Seriously, can you imagine how fun it would be to just have a day where you got to be fabulous and get photographed? Who says you need to be a bride on your wedding day to do the beautiful portraits thing? Believe it, you could do it for yourself as well, whenever you want.
