Going Outside Of Her Comfort Zone | How To Approach a Boudoir Session | Boudoir Photography Vancouver

Let's talk about going outside of one's comfort zone in order to get more comfortable in our own skin. She booked her boudoir session for this reason - she was trying new things and entering a new chapter in her life; one of self care, being more outgoing, developing a new appreciation for her body, and exploring parts of her life and her history she hadn't explored before.

Like most sessions, clients are nervous when they come in. She wasn't sure what to expect but she trusted me and that was so, so important. She asked me about the temperature of the studio beforehand because she's always that cold person...and as a matter of fact, I'm always that cold person making everyone shut the windows when there's a draft, so she was in good company.

We were pretty inspired, she had a lot of outfits and we sorted through them, pairing jewelry and shoes with the outfits. I have been known to shoot for a long time, usually 2-3 hours, and we shot for the full three hours. I kept telling her to arch and she was secretly wondering if the photos would look weird. Side note, you'll do quite a bit of back arching if you ever do a boudoir session with me.

It was worth it, because when we did her viewing she was floored. She went for the full (top) collection. She showed her friends, they loved the photos. She loved them (she said, "I can't stop looking at them!") It made me so, so, so happy to be able to reflect her own beauty back to her. Her partner also loved the photos and the album. She said he was speechless. In a good way, of course ;)

After the session, after the album is delivered, there's always a follow-up questionnaire and a touch-base, and I get some beautiful, wonderful feedback from these. When I hear, "We will value and cherish these forever" I feel so rewarded; like a goal achieved!

And the goal? The goal is to have you walk away from this boudoir session experience with more love for yourself than when you came in, and to value and appreciate yourself in new ways that you may have had difficulty with in the past...
